Book Week 2005

During early November we held our annual Book Week across both key stages. This year our main focus was poetry writing based upon animals and imaginary creatures. Children paired with pupils from other classes. They planned and wrote poems together for an anthology book.

Throughout book week we held a book fair through the Scholastic Book Company. Books were sold to the value of £2,025, of which the school received £1,215 to spend on books for our classes and library.

Within their own classes our children worked in small groups to design and construct imaginary creatures from a whole variety of materials. These were then entered into a competition. The winners were:

Sean Wason RLG

Amelia Dibbo & Dan Gaylard 1MB

Jolie Neill & Katie Elson 4CU

Matthew Lodge, Matthew Dashper & Kunal Patel 5NH

On Thursday and Friday we were visited by an Australian story teller and author, who weaved her magical tales for all our classes and enthralled listeners young and old.

The week came to an end with our traditional dressing up day, where children and staff came dressed up in the theme of animals and imaginary creatures.

A great time was had by all.
