9 Feb 2006 - MINI ENTERPRISE COMPETITION

On Thursday 9th February 2006, 8 Year 6's took part in the Mini Enterprise Competition. These were Emily C (Manager), Isabelle (Secretary),Leo (Accountant), Julia (Quality Controller), Robert (Buyer & Sales Person) and Emma, Louise and Maddy as the workers.

We had to make a Valentine's Ball Mask. This was designed very well by Maddy and it was rated as worth £7.00. We worked quickly as a team which helped us complete about 10 mask.
The time was split into 5 daysof 8 minutes, with 1 minute silence in between. At the beginning there was 25 minutes setting up time. The secretary and accountant had sheets to fill in. Isabelle finished hers by Day 4. The overall profit we earned at the end of Day 5 was £8.00.

While the judges were deciding the winners and other prizes we learnt some street dancing with a group called Urban Stride. These are professional street dancers who have worked with stars like Beyonce.
When the judges had finished deciding we all sat with our teachers in the hall. Everyone received a certificate for taking part. After the 2nd prize had been awarded we were very tense as we thought that we had not won anything but amazingly, we had come 1st out of 20 schools.
We were very proud to represent Downley, and we think we worked as a great team. We won a CD, a W H Smiths token each and a trophy for the year.

We would like to thank Mrs Swanwick for all the training and practice, and Mr Newell, Mrs Kolb and Mrs Swanwick for the lifts and support before it started.
