4 Nov 2006 - Cross Country

On the 4th of November the Downley School Cross Country team from year 5 and 6, girls and boys, got up on a cold day and went to Hughenden Park.

There were 2 races. The first race was for the girls. They started off really well. The first girl home for The Downley School was Emma Postings. Well done to all the girls who took part.

The next race was the boys race. The first boy to finish for The Downley School was Sam Dean. Well done to all the boys who took part.

We would like to thank all the parents who were there to cheer us on, but we would especially like to thank Miss Underdown and Mrs Bunting for all their hard work in training us and helping us on the day.

On Saturday 4th November, years 5 and 6 competed in the Hughenden Park cross country race. The distance of the race was 1.5 kilometers long.
The girl's race started at 9.30am and the boy's at 9.45am. When the race began the Downley team started off well. The first part of the race was up hill, then it was down hill and up again. Once we had seen the finishing line we all sprinted to get there first. The race was very tough considering it was so cold. Some found it harder than others but we all tried our best and had fun, that was the main thing.

We'd like to thank Miss Underdown for preparing us for the race and also Mrs Bunting and all the parents who came to watch.
