29 Jan 2007 - Visit from Dog Warden to Year 4
On Monday 29th January, an exciting visit from Dogs Trust included two adults called Sharon and Susie, who came to talk about dogs. They were both dog wardens, and they talked about what you need and have to do to get a dog.
Susie was the main talker and told us it's nice to sponsor a dog from Dogs Trust. I have sponsored a dog called Jasper, he was found frightened by the road until the kind Dogs Trust were there ready to help poor Jasper.
From the wardens I have learnt much , enough to get my own dog but these things need to be included, a microchip and collar and a tag with their name and address.

The Dog Wardens came to visit us on Monday 29th January. Their names were Sharon and Susie.
They talked to us and said how to approach a dog. Do you know how to approach a dog? You have to walk up sensibly and say to the dog's owner, "Please may I stroke your dog". If they say "Yes", but they give you instructions you have to do them. If they say "No", then you walk away.
If a dog comes running up to you stand still until you are sure that it has gone. Do not run away from it.
If you are riding a bike and a dog is chasing you, stop, get off your bike and put the bike between you and the dog so that the dog will bite the bike instead of you.

The Dog Warden came last Tuesday afternoon. They came from Wycombe District Council and their names were Sharon and Susie. They told us how to keep a dog safe on a lead and that you should put their name, address and phone number on a tag so that if it gets lost it can easily be returned to you.
If you want a dog you would have to look after it and spend a lot of money. You will have to play with it and walk it every day.
